Obituary of William Hamilton Smith

ASHEVILLE– William Hamilton Smith, age 74, of Asheville died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Aston Park Healthcare Center. Mr. Smith was born January 24, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Leonard D. and Olive Hamilton Smith. He was a resident of Buncombe County for the past 40 years. Bill was a loving husband, loyal caring man who loved his family. He loved antiques and retired as a budget analyst for the U.S. Forest Service. Bill served his country in the US Navy. A member of Brookstone Church Merrimon Campus; he attended West Asheville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim Hines and nephew, Tim Hines. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Louise Hensley Smith; sons, Kyle Smith and wife Beth and Erik Smith and wife Kimberly; sister, Virginia Hines; grandchildren, Kaiya Smith and Kara Smith; as well as two nieces and one nephew. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Stan Welch will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
