Obituary of Betty Jean Davis Abernathy

WOODFIN – Betty Jean Davis Abernathy, age 76, of Woodfin, died Friday, December 7, 2018. Mrs. Abernathy was born May 2, 1942 in Robbinsville to the late James Lee and Falsom Christine Smathers Davis. She worked at Ryan’s Steakhouse. Betty was a sweet person who was kind to people and always had a smile on her face. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edward Abernathy who died in 2004, and a brother, Roy Davis. She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Tanya Huntsinger and several other nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Jack Gassaway will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
