Obituary of Joan Leslie Ponder

ARDEN – Joan Leslie Ponder, age 67, of Arden died Saturday, December 15, 2018. Mrs. Ponder was born May 29, 1951 in Davidson County, TN to the late Lou Harvey and Virginia Singleton Leslie. She was a resident of Buncombe County for over 50 years. A good wife and loving mother; she had worked as a teacher’s assistant at Glen Arden Elementary School. Joan was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Leland “Buddy” Ponder; son, Lee Ponder and wife Neeley; grandson, Briar Ponder; and her brother, William Leslie. Her memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Glynn Bachelor will officiate. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
