Obituary of Eldridge Rice

ASHEVILLE– Eldridge Rice, age 84, of Asheville died Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Mr. Rice was born December 10, 1934 in Madison County to the late Tillery and Atlas Buckner Rice. He worked and retired from BASF. Mr. Rice was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Rogers Rice who died in 2018 and sister, Barbara Jean Rice.

Surviving are his sister, Judy Randall and husband Bobby; brother, Robert Rice; brother-in-law, Noel Rogers, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Linda Banks and husband James, Glenda Roberts and Myra Hawkins; nieces, Angela Anderson and husband Chris, Marsha Holbrook and husband Robert, Kay Dinkins, Jennifer Banks, Michelle Rogers, and Heather Noblitt and husband David; nephews, Sean Rogers, Brian Rogers, Jeffrey Roberts, and Ben Hawkins; along with several great nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. Reverend Allen Rash will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the funeral home.
