Obituary of Jackie Fay Metcalf

WOODFIN – Jackie Fay Metcalf, age 88, of Woodfin, died Thursday, March 14, 2019.

Mrs. Metcalf was born September 5, 1930 in Buncombe County to the late Jack and Ida Webb Blankenship.  She was a seamstress in the clothing manufacturing industry and worked in the Woodfin Board of Elections and was a chief judge at one time.  Jackie was a beloved mother and grandmother.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Niven Metcalf who died in 2008, and two grandchildren, Christopher and infant granddaughter.

Surviving are her daughters, Marlene Stollery and husband Alan of NY, and Nancy Miller and husband Jason of Woodfin; grandchildren, Gracie, Noah, Mariah, and Savannah; sisters, Malla Stone of Barnardsville and Juanita Harwood of Weaverville.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
