Obituary of Helen Shelton Worley

HELEN SHELTON WORLEY

WEAVERVILLE – Helen Shelton Worley, age 95, of Weaverville, died Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Ms. Worley was born July 10, 1924 in Madison County to the late John and Elizabeth Beam Shelton. She was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life.

She was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church.

Ms. Worley was preceded in death by her husband, Layfatte Worley, who died in 2002; sister, Lona Shelton; brothers, Harlon, Simon, George, Everett and Troy Shelton.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Robinson and husband, Foy, and Judy Geouge and husband, William, all of Weaverville; sister, Edith Essick of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Lisa Jarrett, Doug Robinson, Patty Rudley, Melissa English and Tracie Rice; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held in West Memorial Park with the Reverend Philip Wilson officiating.

West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
