David and his wife Marian were such special friends. We grew up with them in the Alexander community, and they would let my sisters and me spend the night with them. Many times they would take us to Bryson City for the weekend if we would sing for them. David was one of the kindest people I have ever known, and I can still here him singing “Palms of Victory “ at church. Lots of memories.

David and Marian were extra special to me, always so cheerful. I remember when I was learning to play the trombone and they told me I could take it outside and blow it as hard as I wanted to. Being a child, I did just that. David's bulls and cattle heard the loud horn and jumped the fence. He spend hours gathering the herd up. I thought for sure I was in big trouble, but not with David. He just laughed and would not let mom and dad punish me. David was always there for anyone. When you think about the kind of person you want to be, you think of David.

I want to send my prayers and thought to the family. Mr. Embler was the most precious patient. He was truly a joy to see his smile every day. His smile brightened everyone that crossed his path. He loved to just set with me and listen to music. He truly was an amazing man.

We knew David from our church service at Asheville Health Care when he was a resident there. He was a very special Christian gentleman we enjoyed worshipping the Lord with. He always had a smile and testimony. We know where he is now and looking forward to seeing him again. Our prayers are with the family.

From the time I was 13 or so, you and MiMi were a big part of my life. Having Easter egg hunts up at your house every year to just sitting around talking about life. It didn't matter that you all weren't related to us, It was always MiMi and Papaw David.4 generations of family have called you Papaw. All of us considered that a previledge. Rest easy now. Give MiMi and Aunt Bonnie our love.
