Obituary of Emma Sue Shuford English

BARNARDSVILLE– Emma Sue Shuford English entered her heavenly home on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Emma Sue was born December 20, 1941. She was the last surviving child of the late W. Orpha and Alice Haynes Shuford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Charles R. English who passed away in 1992; sisters, Gladys Deweese, Lucille Stines, Blanche Hyatt, Wilma Barbrey and Jewell “Judy” Powell; brothers, Max Shuford and infant brother, Charles Orpha Shuford.

Emma was a lifetime resident of Barnardsville and a 1960 graduate of North Buncombe High School. She worked for Square D Corp. and after 31 years of employment retired from Mills Manufacturing. Following retirement she worked as an in-home caregiver for numerous clients until July of 2019. Mrs. English attended Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Anthony English and wife Melissa Geouge English; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who were dear to her; along with her granddog, Tiki.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Her nephew, Reverend LaMarr Hyatt will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the funeral home.

At other times the family will be at the residence.
