Obituary of David Grant Wall

WEAVERVILLE – David Grant Wall, age 76, of Weaverville, died Monday, September 28, 2020.

Mr. Wall was born September 10, 1944 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Simon Allen Wall and Edna Evelyn Stevenson Wall.  He formerly worked at IBM and was currently employed as a radio engineer with WKJV radio station.  David enjoyed flying planes and riding trains. He and Barbara traveled as prayer missionaries to Syria and Beirut.  David always had a smile on his face and loved listening to music.  He could strike up a conversation with anyone, sharing his gift of giving.  David served in the sound department at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, Woodland Hills Baptist Church and Piney Mountain Baptist Church.  He attended California Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Camele “Cammy” Lea Wall.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Barbara Koontz Wall; two daughters, Amanda Ertz and husband Casey, and Charlotte Bennett and husband Charles; a son, David G. Wall, II and wife Phoebe; a brother, Jerry Wall; and six grandchildren, Logan Wall, Heidi and Gretchen Ertz , Levi, Judah and Keren Bennett.

His funeral service will be held at  11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.

In lieu of signing  a register book, please text your name to 828-273-1166. Mr. Wall will be available for viewing  1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the funeral home. The family will not be present.

Per the NC Governor, masks are required in all public buildings. 

Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning in to FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
