My mother and I both had Miss Wallin as a second-grade teacher at Flat Creek Elementary. We will never forget her humor and grace. She had a special place in both of our hearts. She was one of a kind, and we never forgot her!

We will miss Aunt Lucille. Her love of family, home cooked food from the garden and enjoyment of a good story, the funnier the better, will endure.

Ms Wallin was a wonderful teacher and wonderful person. She was my second grade teacher. She was a caring, confident teacher who loved all her students. She was a priceless friend to our family. We will miss her greatly.

As a young girl entering first grade at McKee Training School (Now part of Western Carolina University), Ms Wallen came into my life as a "practice teacher" , a requirement ,completing her college experience. Her smiling face and her friendly mannerisms made her a person I would long remember. She loved that little Dills girl and that now adult Dills (Shuford) loved her. Years later, we would renew acquaintances as we lived and worked in the same area. Memories made will never be forgotten.

Me. Wallen was one of those teachers you never forget! I had her in second and third grades. She was a great teacher, but if you got out of line and needed correction she could do that also!! I speak from experience! I have some fond of memories of her. If I ran into her while out she would always give me a warm friendly greeting and want to know how I was doing. She was a jewel and my life has been enriched having known her!

I hated to hear the news about Miss Wallin. Yes I was one of those Ponder Children that she taught. She was my favorite teacher of all. She was so kind and understanding. She had the patience that only an angel had. She would help you until you got it right and understood what she was teaching you, whether it be the math problem that you just couldn't figure out or giving you that rhyme to remember the day Columbus sailed the sea of blue. She always had that smile that could calm the world. Even after being all grown up should would remember me in the grocery store and always take that moment out to speak and do a little catching up on the family. She was a one of a kind and if only the world had a few more Miss Wallin teachers, it would make the world a happier place. Will miss you Miss Wallin, but I guess you and Mrs Bruce have some catching up to do. Rest in eternal peace. One of your Flat Creek students. Sheila Ponder Wilson
