Obituary of Randy Lankford

WEAVERVILLE – Randy Lankford, age 79, of Weaverville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 21, 2020.

Randy was born July 14, 1941 in Buncombe County; where he had lived all of his life.  He had retired from the NC DOT as a supervisor and from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department.  Randy loved going to church, his garden, and visiting the farm in TN.  His most loved and special times were spent with his family; he never missed a ball game or any family function.  Randy was a member and former superintendent at Mtn. View Freewill Baptist Church in Leicester. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Pleasant and Ida Robinson Lankford; brothers, Bobby, William and Paul Lankford.

Surviving are the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Rita Sluder Lankford; his daughters, Beverly Parker and Cindy Coffey and husband Rodney all of Weaverville, and Emilee Loewecke and husband Randy of Simpsonville, SC; grandchildren, Bobby, Brandon, Timothy and Brian Maybin, Myron Coffey and wife Brittany, Justin Coffey and wife Melissa; Katie and Zack Loewecke; great grandchildren, Tye, Brooklyn, Bentley, Addison, Emery and Brady Coffey.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2020  in Mtn. View Freewill Baptist Church, Leicester. Reverend Anthony Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with honors provided by the Buncombe County Sherriff’s Office.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Per the NC governor, masks are required. Those who choose may listen to the funeral service on their radio, by tuning in to FM 90.3, while in the parking lot of the church.
