I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet mom. I haven’t seen any of you in years, but I’ve never forgotten her kindness & friendship she showed me. We were neighbors in the early 70’s, I was your babysitter. She was such a kind, joyful soul. She will be missed by many. May the Lord comfort you.
Love & prayers

God has called an angel home. This world is a little less bright and a bit quieter with the passing of Mama Nell. I am honored and blessed to have known your mother, aka Mama Nell, whom I consider my 2nd mother.
Mama Nell joins the angel's in heaven in time for March Madness. We all know that she will be watching which means cheering or screaming while rooting for her team. One of my fondest memories of Mama Nell was of her in her kitchen frying chicken in the early 1980's while watching NC State play UNC. A sailor would have blushed, but here she was cheering and screaming while jumping around like a mad hen. I have no doubt that she will tell Coach Jimmy V a few things when she sees him. And truthfully, I'm not sure I want to know what she'll say to Coach Dean Smith. And when Coach K joins them, he'd better be ready, she'll have some pointers for him as well.
I can still picture her eyes light up with fire, hear the excitement in her voice and see the smile on her face. She was happiest in the kitchen with her family. Mama Nell was a true powerhouse and a phenomenal southern lady. I am blessed that you shared your mom with me. She will be sorely missed by us all.
With deepest condolences,
Lisa Gaines Lethi

Nell was one of those lovely people that made everyone she met her family. She had a great sense of humor and knew how to roll up her sleeves for a greater cause. You've earned your wings, my friend. The reunion in spirit with all those you love must be amazing! I'm surprised we can't hear the laughter from here! Godspeed to you on your soul's progression.

Nell, you touched my life at many different points over the years and I have such fond memories. You always had a smile, a good suggestion...and usually something yummy to eat.
Nell understood what service to others meant...and demonstrated it throughout her life. She will be well and fondly remembered by me and many, many others.

Nell is our special angel. Who else would drive 75 miles each way on a Saturday morning to bring treats and hang out with her friends, or for a slumber party, or to meet us at the arboretum, or try a new restaurant, or go joyriding through the countryside of Madison County (or the halls of the Brian Center!)? It never took much convincing for her to go exploring with (or without) us! We'll miss her smile, her stories, her humor, her wisdom, and her cooking. We are blessed to have been part of the great adventure she called life! We send our love and prayers of comfort to her and her beautiful family, who have become part of our extended family along the way.
Many blessings,
Mark and Randy <3
