Obituary of Louis Coker, Sr.

ALEXANDER – Louis Coker, Sr., age 92, a US Army Veteran of Alexander, went to heaven Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in his home.

Mr. Coker was born October 14, 1928 in Louellen, KY to the late John Wesley Coker and Alberta Shoemaker Coker.  He retired from NCR as a district manager.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Coker, and daughter, Alberta Coker Deckard.

Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Goodwin Coker; children, Mary Banks and husband Doug, Beverly Fort and husband Tom, Gwen Coker Green,  Tommy Coker and wife Carol all of GA, Louis “Buster” Coker, Jr. and wife Angie of Alexander; brother, John Coker of Knoxville, TN; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 24, 2021 in Macedonia Baptist Church, Jenkins Valley Road, Alexander. Reverend Glenn Meadows will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Flowers are acceptable and appreciated, to honor the love he had for them.

West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Per the NC Governor, masks are required.
