My memories of “Frosty” go back to 1977. I was working for his good friend, Charlie Webb. Charlie and Carl shared a good many traits - among them the ability to “pull your leg”. I was very young, and naive. I had worked for Charlie about a week when he said, “don’t put through any calls unless it is the President of the US, Billy Graham or the Pope”. Well, I thought he was kidding but maybe he did know those people! A little while later, I answered the phone and of course, said “may I say who is calling?” After a very slight pause, the answer was “Spiro Agnew” - well that cracked me up and I laughed. Then this very stern voice said “young lady, I’m glad you find my name amusing, but I need to speak to Mr Webb - urgently”. Of course it was none other than Carl Loftin. He reminded me over the years that he pulled one over on me! He was one of a kind - will be missed.
