Obituary of Richard Robertson
WEAVERVILLE – Thomas Richard Robertson, age 78, of Weaverville, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
Mr. Robertson was born April 6, 1942 in Buncombe County to the late Alden John and Clement Nelson Robertson. He was a US Army veteran having served in Korea. Richard formerly worked at Stampco Metal Products and was a member of the Blackmer Masonic Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M. He was a former member and trustee of Pleasant Grove Union Church and is currently a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jerlene Ledford Robertson who died in 2011; and a sister, Lillian Biggs.
Surviving are his wife of 8 years, Nancy Banks Robertson; daughter, Lisa Coman and husband Matt; son, Jerry Robertson, and wife Kelli; step-sons, Chris Spivey and wife Theresa, and Matthew Roland and wife Maria; sister, Betty Jo Bailey; grandchildren, Bailey Marie Coman, Meredith Leigh Robertson, Lacey Jaye Robertson, Corbin Matthew Roland, Adison Spivey, Joshua and Cheyenne Stewart, and Sammy Holland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Ronnie Owen will officiate and Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Lodge. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Union Church Cemetery, Weaverville with Military Honors.
For those who wish to pay their respects, Mr. Robertson will be available for viewing between 1:00 pm and 4:00, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the funeral home. The family will not be present.
Per the NC Governor, masks are required. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
