Obituary of Russ Brinson, Jr.

WEAVERVILLE – Russ Brinson, Jr., age 76, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021.

Russ was born February 26, 1944 in Charleston, SC to the late Russell W. Brinson, Sr. and Mary Frances McAlister Brinson.  For a number of years, Russ was a resident of Greenwood and Greenville, SC; he had resided in Weaverville since 1993. He served in the United States Navy from May 1963 – May 1967 and retired from Unisys Corporation as a Computer Engineer.  He loved sailing with his son, especially in the Gulf of Mexico; keeping his boat in Shell Point, FL. 

Surviving is his wife, Darlene Waldrip Brinson; son, Russell Brinson, III and wife Selena of Pickens, SC; step daughters, Amy Shuford of Asheville, Mandy Shuford of Concord, and Katie Campbell and husband Nicholas of Weaverville; six grandchildren, Russell IV and wife Ashton, Austin, Jacob, Samantha and husband Yun Jae, Johnathan, and Shelby; and one great grandson, Russell V.

A private family service will be held at a future date.
