Obituary of Geneva Gunter Kent

WEAVERVILLE– Geneva Gunter Kent, age 76, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 4, 2021.

 

Mrs. Kent was born May 3, 1944 in Madison County to the late Manassie and Carrie Banks Gunter; she had lived all of her life in Buncombe County. She was the owner/operator of Jerry’s Bibles and Books and enjoyed gardening.  Geneva was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Marshall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jerry C. Kent who died May 11, 2020. 

 

Surviving are her daughter, Tanya Payne and husband Donald; son, Daryl Kent and girlfriend Kim Kiser; grandchildren, Whitney Rank and husband Billy, Dylan Mundy and girlfriend Sophia Ferguson, and Holston Kent; great grandchildren, William and Charlotte Rank and another great granddaughter expected in June; brothers, Travis and Clarence Gunter.

 

Geneva’s funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Dewayne Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral.

 

Per the NC Governor, masks are required. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
