Obituary of Hobert Mundy

BARNARDSVILLE – Hobert Mundy, age 81, of Barnardsville died Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Mr. Mundy was born April 10, 1939 to the late Taft and Gladys Burrell Mundy; he had lived all of his life in Buncombe County. Hobert retired from Morgan Oil Company. He was a member of Paint Fork Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Mundy.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Marie Boone Mundy; daughters, Theresa Wilson and husband Rev. Philip Wilson and Gelene Autrey and husband Jarrod; sons, Dewayne Mundy and wife Tina and Jeff Mundy and wife Crystal; brothers, Charles Mundy and wife Fayma, Grady Mundy and wife Carolyn, Donald Mundy and wife Marian, Herman Mundy and wife Beverly and Larry Mundy and wife Debbie; sister-in-law, Martha Mundy; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Rev.’s Arnold Revis and Terry Rice will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville.

Per the NC Governor, masks are required. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
