Obituary of Birty Ann Jones Mackey

WEAVERVILLE - Birty Ann Jones Mackey age 83, went home to be with the Lord, April 30, 2021.

Mrs. Mackey was born November 7th, 1937 in Lake Toxaway, NC to the late Floyd And Beulah Wood Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by  her sisters, Juanita Keener and Helen Owen.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, Marvin Mackey of 56 years; son, Dewain and daughter-in-law Kathy Mackey; her grandchildren, Christopher Mackey, Bethany Mackey Daigle (Jordan Daigle), and Burgin Mackey, and her soon to be great granddaughter Lorrie Ann Daigle; additionally, her sister, Azalea Hall, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mackey worked for PYA Monarch for 24 years and retired from the American Red Cross after another 24 years. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Alexander, North Carolina. Known as Birty Ann to some, Aunt Birty, mom and grandma; she loved God, was devoted to her family, and always bragged on her grandchildren. She loved to travel and shared that love with her family taking them on trips and seeing the United States. Her adventurous and kind spirit will continue to live on through us. Grandma you will be so missed and loved dearly. 

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville. Reverends Larry Sprouse and Eddie Rice will officiate.

At other times the family will be at the residence, 155 Pinecrest Drive Alexander, NC.

For those who wish to pay their respects, Mrs. Mackey will be available for viewing between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at West Funeral Home, Weaverville. The family will not be present.
