Jennie was one of the sweetest ladies I know. My grandparents (John and Lucille Embler) were good friends with her. Papaw knew her all his life. I know we will all be gathered again soon. What a glad reunion day.

Jennie was a wonderful friend when I was a first year teacher at French Broad Elementary School. She nurtured all of us and was especially kind to me. I loved and admired her. I had hoped to visit her. COVID19 prevented that. My thoughts and prayers are with Regina and family. Much love, Alice

Regina, Tweed, Van and families,
We were sorry to hear that Jennie passed away. It was our great honor to have known her all these years. Having her for 101 years was wonderful, something most families do not have the privilege to enjoy. She fought a good fight here on earth, but now she is in Heaven without all the pain and troubles of life. Our sincere prayers to each of you.

Dear Family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Jennie. I know your hearts are saddened but we will see her again in Heaven where there will be no more pain, suffering, tears or death. She was a strong woman and steadfast in her faith. Jennie raised a wonderful family and lived to see several generations grow up in church and serving the Lord. I remember coming to her home eating meals that were delicious and plentiful. What a legacy she leaves behind! May the God of all comfort bring you peace now and in the days ahead. Love and prayers.

Dear Family,
May God wrap you in the comfort of his holy arms and bless your hearts with the many wonderful memories of Jennie. My mother, Mildred Yarbrough, loved her so much and told wonderful stories of their time together. One of her fondest memories was the reunion I was able to bring her to in 2010, the year before she died. God bless you all.

Regina, Van, Tweed and your families - I send my thoughts on the passing of Jennie. Not only was she a comforting face during my years at French Broad Elementary, but also a prominent role model during my formative years at Alexander Baptist Church. She was always so very kind and giving to my parents too, the community will definitely miss her.

There has never been a sweeter, more loving person than Mrs. Jennie Sluder. She took care of so many children in her years at French Broad, and she loved every one of us just like her own. I have so many fond memories of her while growing up, and my child loved her too! He and my mom would go visit her, and he was always happy to tell me about his day with "Miss Sluder". I am thankful I was blessed enough to know her, and doubly blessed that my Charlie loved her too. I have such a sweet memory of them holding hands in a picture we took at her 100th birthday celebration. We will see you soon sweet lady, cause we are on our way.
