Obituary of Grace Chandler Fender

ALEXANDER – Grace Chandler Fender, age 95, of Alexander went to be with her Lord, Monday, May 10, 2021.

Mrs. Fender was born November 13, 1925 in Madison County to the late John Frank Chandler and Belle Wilson Chandler Sprinkle; she was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Grace was a mother of 3 boys, a faithful wife and caregiver to her husband during and after multiple surgeries.  She was formerly employed at K-mart.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Chuck” Fender who died in 2005; sister, Ethel Howell, and brother, James Chandler.

Surviving are her sons, Rev. Gary Fender and wife Faye, Ronnie Fender and wife Melinda, and Charles Gregg and wife Ginger; sister, Shirley Roberts; eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Ridgeview Baptist Church, Alexander, of which she was a faithful charter member and served as custodian until her 90’s. Reverends Gary Fender and Nathan Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Per the NC Governor, masks are required inside the building.
