The dictionary says German schoenheit translates to English beautiful, heavenly, which Chuck was. What a wonderful treasured heavenly beauty he was. He made our lives better. Now heaven is and will be forever more beautiful.

Charlie's calm warmth and his sense of humor were an incredibly grounding influence during my years working at Blue Ridge Center. That presence followed me through the places I have worked since leaving Asheville and I remain grateful for his friendship. Charlie's style of leadership and supervision helped me to become comfortable in my own methods of supervising and teaching. Beth, you and the BRC Community are much in my thoughts these days.

I grew up with Chuck as we knew him in the neighborhood on Barnard Rd in Saginaw, MI. I went to school with him from the 1st grade through the 12th grade and graduation. I know where he received his training for life, from his mother and father. It has taken me some time to come to the realization that I would never see Chuck again except in my memories. I spent enough time at his house to gain a second Mom in his mother. I grew up with Joan, Sara, Lisa and Mary so my heart and prayers go out to them. The only one I still see from time to time is Lisa because she still lives in Saginaw and I see her walking as I go to work.
Beth, I believe we met one time at a CanAm Volleyball match Louie was finishing up in before our daughter played the next match on that court. The only thing I can do is pray for God's Blessings on you, your family, his sisters and other friends for Charlie's departure from this world and our lives. Charlie is still my life-long friend no matter were he is now. I pray that I see him in Heaven when I get there because I know he is already there.

I fondly remember Charlie as our team leader and supervisor at Blue Ridge Center. In addition to being a good clinical supervisor, he arranged for team building activities at Folly Beach, SC. Paid for with our own time and money, these annual (for a time) voluntary events went a long way toward helping us as individuals and as a team. We will miss him. Beth, I'm sorry for your loss.

I’ve never known anyone so evolved that Charlie couldn’t have been a good example for them to follow. The pain of his passing is heavy and the world is greatly diminished for him no longer in it. Fifty plus years is far too short a time to have shared with him.
Beth, we hope the the great partnership, time and memories you shared with Charlie will at some point assuage your grief. Please rely on all of us to be there for you.

As others, I so respected Charlie's deep commitment to his profession, to the many years at Blue Ridge, and his unwavering support for the mental health needs of the disenfranchised. His quiet leadership was a bulwark of health care for so many years in our community, hearkening to an era where service was truly the rule of the day. We're a better community than we would have been without him. He leaves an underpinning legacy that many of us won't forget.
Many, many blessings Beth. Will drop in to give you a hug sometime soon.

It's a shock to learn that Charlie is gone. I had the good fortune to work alongside him for many years at Blue Ridge Center and never ceased to be amazed by his goodness as a human being. He worked with more dedication and resiliency under the strain of challenging circumstances than anyone else I've known. No idea how he managed it, but I'm grateful for the privilege of witnessing such character in action. Asheville is poorer for his loss. And, Beth, I'm so sorry.

Charlie was a loyal friend for 50 years. He never forgot my birthday; I always looked forward to his dry, sardonic, but hilarious humor. He could say a lot with a few words. His outdoor feats made him the happiest. My condolences to Beth, his sisters, and his many friends.

I am crushed by the sad news of the passing of Charlie Schoenheit. He was a colleague from work at The Western Highlands Network. Charlie dedicated his life to helping the most vulnerable in our community. He was one of the finest men I have ever known.
Our world has lost someone of truly great character, humor and kindness.
This really hurts. My heart aches for his family and all who knew and loved Charlie Schoenheit.
