Obituary of Lara Jean Russell

WEAVERVILLE – Lara Jean Russell, age 31, of Weaverville, passed away at her residence, Friday August 6, 2021.

Lara was born May 11, 1990, in Buncombe County to the late Howard Richard and Netta Whitt Russell; she was a resident of Buncombe County all her life. Lara had a big heart and cared for people; she was known for taking in strays…. not the furry four-legged kind!  She was a percussionist with a fondness for a variety of music.   

Surviving are her sister, Sara Melrose and husband Michael; brothers, Jason Russell and wife Laura, and Jarod Russell; nieces and nephews, Ruby, Harry, Scarlett, and Teddy Melrose.

The family will receive friends 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, in West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.
