Obituary of Norma Dockery Metcalf

WEAVERVILLE – Norma Dockery Metcalf, age 87, of Weaverville, passed away at the Brian Center on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

Mrs. Metcalf was born in Buncombe County to the late Cyrus Dockery and Lillie Swann Dockery.  Norma was a joyful lady who enjoyed quilting, canning, playing piano, tending her flowers, and gardening. She was a lifelong member of the Weaverville Presbyterian Church.  She was very devoted to her church and church family.  We will remember her kind heart, funny jokes, and good cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Metcalf; siblings, Raymond, Russell, J.C., and Romulus Dockery, and Dorothy Kinsland.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church Weaverville.  Reverend Skip Gillikin will officiate. A private family burial will follow.
