Obituary of Larry Dean Radcliff

LEICESTER – Larry Dean Radcliff, age 71, of Leicester, departed this earth for his heavenly home, Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

 

A native of Buncombe County, he was born January 17, 1950, to the late Rev. Vernon E. and Margaret M. Radcliff.  He was a 1968 graduate of North Buncombe High School and worked for many years in automotive and heavy truck parts sales.  He was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church and attended Shepherd’s Fold House Of Worship for many years.

 

Larry Dean always had a passion for music.  He learned to play guitar and bass at an early age and would often play with his siblings.  He soon learned to play several types of guitars including the steel guitar and the dobro.  Throughout the years he used his talent to serve the Lord by playing in several gospel groups, such as The Heightsmen and many others.  His extraordinary talents and playing skills gave people the sense of peace with God. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Worth Ratcliffe, Bobby Radcliff, Ronnie Radcliff and Steve Ratcliff.

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Roma Lee Radcliff; daughter, and son-in-law, Darla and Richard Walsh of Leicester, twin granddaughters, whom were the light of his life, Hannah and Abigail Walsh of Leicester; two sisters, Judy Clark (Roger) of Alexander and Shelby Jean Boyd (Clark) of Marshall; three sisters-in-law, Marlene Ratcliff, Carolyn Radcliff, and Margaret Radcliff; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church, Alexander. Reverend Anthony Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 90.3, while in the parking lot of the church.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at West Funeral Home, Weaverville.

 

Per the family’s request, masks are required.

 

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Becky Ponder, 15 Harbeck Drive, Weaverville, NC  28787.
