Obituary of Eloise Lunsford Towe

ASHEVILLE – Eloise Lunsford Towe, age 97, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Mrs. Towe was born August 3, 1924, in Buncombe County to the late Orph E. and Leona Maney Lunsford.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ernest Towe, Sr., who died in 1985; sister, Frances Stone; and brothers, Bud Lunsford and Frederick Dean Lunsford.

Raised in Weaverville, Eloise later lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she managed Harmony Hill Retirement Home, and returned to Asheville 36 years ago. 

Eloise loved reading, flowers, being outside in the sun, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.  She was a fantastic cook and her sweetness as a mother will be missed. 

Eloise was a member of the church group “Amazing Grace” at Grace Baptist Church. She was dedicated to the Lord and loved her church family.  Eloise lived a long, healthy, religious life.

Surviving are her children, Charles E. Towe, Jr. and wife Claudette of Vero Beach, FL; Patricia Miller and husband Robert, and Jeffery Dale Towe of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren, Kevin B. Towe, Richard W. McKinney, Virginia Lee Martin, Eric Towe, Michelle Bussade; and six great grandchildren, Jeremiah McKinney, Ryan Martin, Gianni Lockwood, Makayla Sisk, A.J. Sisk, and Drakkar Bussade.

Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 in Grace Baptist Church. Reverend Dr. Branton Burleson will officiate. Mrs. Towe will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Maney Branch Cemetery, Weaverville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
