Obituary of Jack Rollins Sharp

WEAVERVILLE – Jack Rollins Sharp, age 85, of Weaverville, died Thursday September 23, 2021.

 

Jack was born March 17, 1936, in Buncombe County to the late Ed and Flossie White Sharp; he was a resident of Buncombe County all of his life. He was a radio announcer at the radio station in Marshall and was formerly employed at Shaw Industries.  Jack enjoyed playing music on the mandolin and guitar.  He was a Sunday School teacher at Long’s Chapel Baptist Church and Lighthouse Baptist Church, and a member of Monticello Road Baptist Church. 

  

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Bud Sharp and sister, Margaret Brank. 

 

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Gelean Austin Sharp; daughters, Vickie Sharp, and Jackie Lewis and her husband, Daniel; three grandsons, Cody, Banny and Jacob; and one great grandson, Dustin, Jr.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Mark Crowder will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.

 

The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
