Obituary of Emma Kathern Allman Rice

ASHEVILLE – Emma Kathern Allman Rice, age 93, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 9, 2021.

Mrs. Rice was born March 6, 1928, in Buncombe County to the late Murray and Pearl Chambers Allman; she had lived in Buncombe County all her life. She was a 1946 graduate of Flat Creek High School and worked at Woolworth in the toy department before becoming a stay-at-home mother. At 12 years of age, she was baptized and joined Piney Mountain Baptist Church. She currently attended Brookstone Church. Mrs. Rice was a member of Vance Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She loved to attend church worship services and seeing people come to Christ and be baptized in faith. She loved her family and friends; always taking care of everyone. Everyone will miss her loving, helpful and giving nature.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Rice who died in 2004 and all her four siblings.

Surviving are her sons, Jeff Rice and wife Misty and Roy Rice and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Alyssa, Paige, Autumn and Owen Rice; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Brookstone Church-Merrimon Campus. Rev. Ken Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the funeral.
