Obituary of James Frederick Williams

ASHEVILLE – James Frederick Williams, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.

A native of Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Franklin Pierce Williams and Sarah Schroth Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Sharon Williams.

A United States Navy veteran, James served his country by serving in World War II. He is truly a member of our country’s Greatest Generation. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. James was an avid golfer and a long time active member of Brookstone Church Weaverville. He was generous with his time and giving to others with his kind words as well as donations to many charities.

He is gone to be with his Lord and will be greatly missed by those who had the opportunity to know him.

James is survived by three daughters, Suzette Molling (Michael), Suzanne Moore, and Madeline Turocy (Daniel); a son, Daniel Williams (Chincha); seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 10, 2022 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Pastor Ken Roberts will officiate. Anyone attending will be required to wear a mask or face covering.

Interment will be held privately at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, where James will be laid to rest with his wife who passed away in 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in keeping with James’ kindness and generosity.
