Obituary of Rosa Lee Harwood Wilson

WEAVERVILLE – Rosa Lee Harwood Wilson, age 80, of Weaverville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Mrs. Wilson was born August 24, 1941 in Buncombe County to the late William “Bill” and Catherine Miller Harwood; she was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George M. Wilson, Sr. who died in 2015; sister, Mary Harwood; brothers Joseph Raymond Harwood, William Robert Harwood; and great granddaughter, Cecileigh Garris.

She was a faithful attendee of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church.  She spent her life as a wife, mother and homemaker.  Her Faith in Christ and Family were most important to her and gave her the greatest joy.

She is survived by daughters, Kay Harkleroad and husband Dean, and Sandy Ray and husband Steve; sons, George M. Wilson, Jr. and Rev. Philip E. Wilson and wife Theresa; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. 

The family would like to offer special thank you to her granddaughters and “angels” Felicia Harwood and Stephanie Ogle for the time, love and care they have selflessly given to our mother.   

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Reverend Homer Tweed will officiate.

A private burial will be held in Maney Branch Cemetery, Weaverville.  West Funeral Home is assisting the family.
