Obituary of Jean Gibson

Jean Gibson, age 91, of Candler, died Thursday, January 27, 2022.

She was born on February 3, 1930, to the late Will and Sara Laws Beaver.

Jean loved being a mother, grandmother, and more to her family. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and canning.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Avery Gibson in 2017; four brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Ford and Jane Fox; sons, Richard Gibson (Joyce) and Michael Gibson (Pamela); nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Steve Rhinehart will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.

Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville.
