Obituary of Annelore Hayer McMahan

ASHEVILLE - Annelore Hayer McMahan, age 86, died Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Mrs. McMahan was born on February 28, 1935, to the late Lucia Hachenberger Hayer and Johann Hayer in Mainz, Germany. She had been a resident of Buncombe County since 1956.

Annelore never knew a stranger, loved her family dearly, and had a special fondness for her dogs. She loved to spend her time traveling. After she retired, Annelore became a caregiver for her family and elderly friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin McMahan who died in 2002; son, James William McMahan who died in 2005; and sister, Gisela Gruber.

Surviving are her daughters, Kimberly Young (Mark) and Gisela Green (Steve); sisters, Edith and Monica; brother, Shaw; seven grandchildren, Melissa Collins, Jason McMahan, Michael Green, Matthew Green, Crystal Dalton, Kelly Littrel, and Kevin Young; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Harris and Jackson McMahan, Hannah, Adam, and Aiden Collins, Colton, Austin, and McKenzie Green, Courtney and Tyler Dalton, Alex and Chloe Littrel, Chase, Colby, and Audrey Young.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery, 399 Beaverdam Road, Asheville. Reverend Kent Smith will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
