Obituary of Charles Don Wilson

BARNARDSVILLE – Charles Don Wilson, age 90 of Barnardsville, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Mr. Wilson was born May 29, 1931, in Yancey County to the late Charles Denver and Mary Hensley Wilson; he was a resident of Buncombe County most of his life. Don was the owner/operator of Newbridge Motors for 38 years.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved his grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ward, Ed, and Max Wilson; sisters, Ethel Earwood and Jean Allen; and granddaughter, Rebecca Ellis.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years Lois Burleson Wilson; daughters, Debra Ellis, Diana Wilson, Denise Rowell (Randy), and Donna Whitlow (Phillip); brother, Bill Wilson (Peggy); eight grandchildren Charles and Sara Ellis; Joseph and Joshua Rowell; Luke (Presley), Benjamin, John and Charlotte Whitlow; great-granddaughter, Emerson Whitlow.

His graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022, in Burleson Family Cemetery, Barnardsville.  

The family will receive visitors at the home.

West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
