Obituary of Joyce Davis King

WEAVERVILLE   – Joyce Davis King, age 84, of Weaverville, died Thursday, March 3, 2022.

Mrs. King was born April 10, 1937, in Buncombe County, to the late Thomas Cornelius and Martha Ball Davis; she was a resident of Buncombe County most of her life.

Joyce was a dedicated and hardworking woman who worked until she was 74. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon William King, who died in 2000; daughter, Wanda King Potts; brothers, William, Bruce, and Tommy Jr.; and sister, Jean.

Surviving are her son, Michael King (Catha); daughter, Marsha Laird (James); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Phillip Parker and Rev. Roy McPeters will officiate.

Burial will follow in Red Oak Cemetery, Weaverville.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the funeral home
