Obituary of Roger Lee Cole

WEAVERVILLE– Roger Lee Cole, age 70, of Weaverville, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Mission Hospital.  Mr. Cole was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County.

Mr. Cole was a 13-year cancer survivor.  He spent over 32 years working for the Asheville Citizen-Times.  He was a dedicated, hardworking, provider for his family and a wonderful father to his children. 

He was the husband of Camilla Cole for the past 38 years and was the son of the late Edward and Eloise Harwood Cole.

In addition to his wife,  he is survived by his daughter Shaleena Herrera; three sons, Adam Cole (Whitney), Matthew Cole, and Justin Cole (Maya); sister, Elaine Tweed; brothers, Randy Cole (Wanda) and Ronnie Cole; five grandsons, Marco, Anthony, Tristan, Aydan and Blake and one granddaughter, Elva; as well as nieces and nephews. 

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 13 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with the Reverend Larry L. Coates officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, 876 Newfound Road, Leicester, NC 28748.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the ICU nurses at Mission Hospital and also Dr. Messino and Dr. Brown for their love and care for Roger.
