Obituary of Rhoda Doan Moore

WEAVERVILLE – Rhoda Doan Moore, age 93, of Weaverville, died Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Mrs. Moore was born October 5, 1928, in Buncombe County to the late Kenneth and Dora Lee Sharpe Doan; she was a resident of Buncombe County all her life. Rhoda was of the Christian faith and a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.  Her favorite verse from the bible was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Rhoda was a woman with lots of will power in which she said came from her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She was humble and kind and loved gardening and working in her many beautiful flowers.  Rhoda had a compassionate heart for animals.  She dearly loved her chihuahuas, Sonny and Fran.  Rhoda will be dearly missed but will continue to live in our hearts forever.  “Go Rest High, Where the Roses Never Fade”.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Burnett J. Moore who died in 1977; her brothers, Stan Doan, Liston Doan and Charles Doan all of Weaverville.

Surviving are sister, Lucille Doan Rogers of Weaverville; nephews, Roy Dale Rogers, Larry Doan both of Weaverville, Danny Lee Doan of Leicester and David D. Doan of Alexander; nieces, Teresa Doan Coffey, Toni Doan Sawyer, Reta Doan Smith and Rebecca Doan Summey Waddell of Greeneville, TN; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the funeral service.
