Obituary of John Calvin "Jake" Jones

BLACK MOUNTAIN – John Calvin "Jake" Jones, age 88, died on Monday, July 18, 2022. 

Jake was born January 2, 1934 in Buncombe county where he lived all his life.  He enjoyed a 50+ year career with Biltmore Estate; farming, caring for guests, and enjoying all of God’s creations. 

Jake was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Dorothy J. Jones, and their daughter, Phyllis Hall.

Surviving Jake are his daughter, Darlene Pressley and husband Ernest of Black Mountain; grandchildren, Tonya and Jimmy Blackman, Eric and Tiffany Hall, Cody Pressley; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Timothy Heath, Zachary Allen, Carson Thompson, Dustin Hoglen, Aubrey Thompson and foster children.  He is also survived by great-great-grandchildren, Alaina and Waylon Heath. 

Services for Jake will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 25 at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 49 Reynolds School Road, Asheville. Pastor Larry Carver will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville.
