Obituary of Gerald Dwayne Carswell

BARNARDSVILLE – Gerald Dwayne Carswell, age 56, of Barnardsville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

 

Gerald was born July 22, 1965, to Doug and Columbia Justice Carswell in Baltimore, Maryland where he soon found his way to the South. Gerald was a loving and devoted Christian, son, husband, father, brother, and grandpa. He was well known throughout his community for his years of commitment and dedication to coaching, refereeing, and umpiring. Gerald could easily bring light into any area with his infectious smile, laughter, and embracing hugs.

 

Gerald was a 2nd generation lineman for MB Haynes and PIKE until 1994. From then on, he devoted himself to his wife, Lisa Haynes Carswell for 33 beautiful years. Gerald loved and found comfort in spending time with his family and working on Chevrolets.

 

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Haynes Carswell; children, Justin Carswell, Nic Carswell, Chasity Corn, and Cody Carswell; mother, Columbia Carswell; sister, Lori Peterson; grandchildren, Jaylea Carswell, Tristan Wilson, and Lucas Wilson; nephew, Trenton Bullman. His father, Doug Carswell preceded him in death.

 

Gerald especially will be remembered for his perseverance in life and the inspiration he bestowed upon each and every soul he came in contact with.

 

A private graveside ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Following the ceremony, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, 30 Alabama Avenue, where all are invited to celebrate him.
